{"id":1849,"date":"2020-03-18T12:46:40","date_gmt":"2020-03-18T17:46:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ufcw663.org\/blog\/?p=1849"},"modified":"2020-03-18T16:24:48","modified_gmt":"2020-03-18T21:24:48","slug":"grocery-store-workers-should-be-critical-first-responders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ufcw663.org\/blog\/2020\/03\/18\/grocery-store-workers-should-be-critical-first-responders\/","title":{"rendered":"Grocery Store Workers Should BE Critical First Responders"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>From President Utecht<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I have been working with Governor Walz\u2019s office to have grocery store workers reclassified as Tier 1 \u201ccritical first responders.\u201d Because Minnesota is under a peacetime emergency, this would make our members in retail grocery the same as hospital workers, police, EMT, and fire fighters. If successful, this would qualify our retail grocery members to the same level of benefits\/protections the current list of Tier 1 \u201ccritical first responders\u201d receive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This would open up a number of benefits for membership, such as the ability to send members\u2019 school aged children to daycare for temporary childcare options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nationally, we are also working with UFCW International President Marc Perrone to reclassify grocery store workers as critical first responders.
