{"id":3270,"date":"2026-02-27T12:12:05","date_gmt":"2026-02-27T18:12:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ufcw663.org\/blog\/?p=3270"},"modified":"2026-03-02T08:47:10","modified_gmt":"2026-03-02T14:47:10","slug":"members-voted-to-increase-dues-build-stronger-union","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ufcw663.org\/blog\/2026\/02\/27\/members-voted-to-increase-dues-build-stronger-union\/","title":{"rendered":"Members Voted to Increase Dues, Build Stronger Union"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>In December of 2025, UFCW 663 members in the Metro and Brainerd areas voted to increase dues to fight for stronger contracts, have stronger representation, and organize new workplaces.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2027 and 2028, almost every member will be negotiating a new contract, and these will likely be some of the toughest negotiations we\u2019ve ever faced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the same time we have to grow. That means organizing grocery stores, meatpacking plants, and more workplaces across Minnesota.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Members\u2019 decision to increase dues positions us to win at the bargaining table, have more representation, and grow our Union. Below are answers to common questions about the Metro and Brainerd dues increase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">FAQ:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What will my new dues rate be?*<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Effective March 2026, weekly dues are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Full-time: 0.75 hours per week<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Part-time: 0.625 hours per week<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This rate <em>replaces <\/em>the 2 hours per month rate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>*Note: These rates only apply to Metro and Brainerd area workplaces represented by UFCW Local 663.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What are increased dues paying for?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Members voted to increase dues to be able to bargain for stronger contracts, more representation, and to organize new workplaces so we can grow our Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some of the things that we need to pay for in order to achieve those goals are: more Union staff to support members, larger member bargaining committees, more member events, and steward trainings so members can better enforce their contract and organize their workplace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How often will dues be deducted from my paycheck?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Most employers agreed to deduct dues evenly across each pay period, but not all. The Employers that refused to deduct by pay period will continue to deduct dues once a month and a new process will need to be negotiated in our next contract.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For further questions, reach out to your steward, your organizer, or the Member Action Center (MAC).
