{"id":3273,"date":"2026-03-02T15:37:40","date_gmt":"2026-03-02T21:37:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ufcw663.org\/blog\/?p=3273"},"modified":"2026-03-02T15:39:37","modified_gmt":"2026-03-02T21:39:37","slug":"workplace-justice-report-march-2nd-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ufcw663.org\/blog\/2026\/03\/02\/workplace-justice-report-march-2nd-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"Workplace Justice Report &#8211; March 2nd, 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em><strong>It\u2019s Better in a Union<\/strong><\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>March 2nd, 2026<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Members at Kowalski\u2019s Win More Than $5,000 in 401(k) Contributions<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier in 2025, it came to our attention that Kowalski\u2019s had exceeded their contractual limit of Group 3 employees by 57 workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UFCW 663 took action \u2014 we filed a grievance and won a settlement. As a result, 17 members at Kowalski\u2019s are receiving a combined total of <strong>$5,063<\/strong> in extra 401k contributions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to this, 24 UFCW 663 members have been reclassified from Group 3 Part-Time to Regular Part-Time. These members now have access to <strong>higher maximum hours, 401(k) contributions, and faster PTO accrual<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"819\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ufcw663.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/image-1-819x1024.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3275\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ufcw663.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/image-1-819x1024.png 819w, https:\/\/www.ufcw663.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/image-1-240x300.png 240w, https:\/\/www.ufcw663.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/image-1-768x960.png 768w, https:\/\/www.ufcw663.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/image-1.png 1080w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 819px) 100vw, 819px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>JBS Workers Have Discipline Thrown Out &amp; Win Jobs Back<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Members at JBS in Worthington have reported an increased number of unjust discipline from HR, creating uncertainty and hardship for affected workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through the grievance process, our Union stepped in to enforce the contract and challenge unfair disciplinary actions. In the last 3 months of 2025 alone,<strong> 8 workers were able to return to work<\/strong> after our Union successfully fought for their jobs back, demonstrating the critical role of strong representation on the shop floor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"819\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ufcw663.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/image-819x1024.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3274\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ufcw663.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/image-819x1024.png 819w, https:\/\/www.ufcw663.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/image-240x300.png 240w, https:\/\/www.ufcw663.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/image-768x960.png 768w, https:\/\/www.ufcw663.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/image.png 1080w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 819px) 100vw, 819px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Members at QPP Win Back PTO Used For ESST<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST) became law in Minnesota in January 2024. Quality Pork Processors (QPP) in Austin, MN was making employees use their vacation time to cover ESST related absences.
